Nicholas Verderamo Has Dominant Chip Lead After Day 1b in the $2200 Main Event at the Maryland State Poker Championship

The $2200 Main Event has completed Day 1b at the Maryland State Poker Championship at Live! Casino and Hotel Maryland. The second of two Day 1 flights saw 145 entrants, with 19 players advancing to Day 2. The chip leader after Day 1b is Nicholas Verderamo with $910,000.

Verderamo has over $1,500,000 in poker earnings will look to add to that as he takes a commanding chip lead into Day 2. Joining Verderamo at the top of the leaderboard is Ben Gazzola (648,000) in second, and Michael Fenwick (609,000) in third.

All 19 players made the money after Michael Ryan lost with ace-king against king-jack after Edgar Propst turned a jack to eliminate Ryan on the stone bubble.

The 19 players from Day 1b and the 13 players from Day 1a will all return on Sunday August 11 at 12:15 p.m local time for Day 2. The field is expected to play down to its final six players, before returning for Day 3 to complete the tournament on Monday August 12.

The prize pool and seat draw will be confirmed later tonight, and PokerNews will provide updates when available.

The winner of The Main Event, in addition to their cash prize, will win The Gold Pass. The Gold Pass is valued at $10,000 and includes a $5,300 NAPT Las Vegas Main Event buy-in, a 7-night stay at Resorts World Las Vegas, and $1,800 for travel expenses.
