Arthur Rippy bested a 52-strong field in Event #17: Live! Stacks to claim the $18,720 first place prize. The top seven finishers each received a portion of the $50,596 prizepool and it took a marathon 13-hour day to whittle the entrants down to a winner.
2024 Maryland State Poker Championship
While the Maryland State Poker Championship at Maryland Live! Casino is drawing to a close, there are plenty more opportunities to win your way to the NAPT in Las Vegas just over the horizon. Next week, another series kicks off at Philly Live! Casino. There will be three more NAPT Gold Passes up for grabs there, with each awarding the winner a $5,300 entry to the Main Event in Las Vegas as well as $2,900 for hotel accommodations and $1,800 to cover other expenses.
Today marks the last day of the 2024 Maryland State Poker Championship. There are two more events that have yet to crown a winner, including the Main Event, which gets underway at 2:15 p.m. with just five players remaining. Pokerstars ambassador Parker Talbot remains in contention with the second largest stack. Updates from that tournament can be found here.
Meanwhile, the last event, the $400 Tag Team Switch, kicked off at 11:15 a.m. this morning and will play down to a winner today. Unlike a traditional tag team event, both players from a team receive separate stacks that they play on their own. Those stacks will only be combined should both players make the final table. Any payouts are, as in any other team poker event, divided equally between the two participants. A recap of that tournament will be available later tonight.
Earlier this evening while the Main Event Day 1b was happening on one side of the poker room, Event #16: $400 Black Chip Bounty got underway at the other side. PokerNews will be recapping that tournament once it reaches its conclusion later tonight.
